What is cornerstone content and how to set up foundational content in SEO

Cornerstone content is the central content of your website, which you want to convey to readers a content related to a certain issue. Let’s say you have a list of 10 WordPress tutorials you must have a focus on WordPress tutorials. This will help your focus articles rank higher on search engines because they know which articles to show for that keyword. But how do you mark up for search engines what is foundational content? Take a look at this article.

What will the Cornerstone content look like?

Trong Yoast SEO phiên bản 4.6 đã xuất hiện chức năng cho phép bạn đánh dấu đâu là nội dung nền tảng (cornerstone content) cho từ khóa đó.

In Yoast SEO version 4.6 has appeared a function that allows you to mark what is the cornerstone content (cornerstone content) for that keyword.

Background content should be a standard, well-structured article and it is mainly about a specific content, that specific content is considered a keyword. Your articles should have the best possible keyword allocation. You go to google and search for the word “country” it will appear a foundation article of Wikipedia. And you can immediately refer to this article to create a background content for yourself.

Search for articles with general keyword content and link them together

Going back to  Wikipedia’s foundational article on “water”, do a search in  Wikipedia about “heavy water” and you’ll notice a few things: In the post “Water” the keyword “Water” is not linked anywhere. But it contains a link from “Heavy Water” to the post Heavy Water. Now on the “Heavy Water” lesson you will also see that the word “Heavy Water” is not linked anywhere, instead there is the word “Water” linked to the Water card. If you don’t believe it, you can check out the article “Super Heavy Water” of  Wikipedia. They all have a perfect connection. I call it tight cohesion in Internal Link. Now do a little test.
  • Go to google and search like this “site:en.wikipedia.org country” you will see that the top is the country article
  • Search similar to the word “heavy water” you will also get the same results.
This means that google itself understands what is the foundation article of the keyword. Here is an example of the website tuandc.com itself for you to better understand. When I search for SEO keywords about this page on google, the results are like this. The TOP 1 article doesn’t say much about SEO keywords at all, so it can’t be considered a foundation article.
And one thing is for sure, this article will never rank high on the search page. My solution is to write an article called What is SEO? and will talk mainly about SEO then will link the SEO words that appear first in the above articles about that article. I don’t intend to SEO the keyword “SEO” but if I let an article that doesn’t talk about that topic appear on Google, I find it a bit wasteful and will contribute to creating many poor quality search results for people. used from my website and from there is underrated. In most articles about SEO, at the end of the article I often mention quality content. And at the end of this article too, I still recommend that you create the best quality content possible. Bring value to users through your articles, combined with the ways to lead by strong Links, you will be appreciated by search engines more than using black hat SEO tricks.
